WEDDINGS & CELEBRATIONS

OVERLOOKING THE BAY

The Lyme Bay Café & Bar has superb panoramic views looking out over the bay, with views down to the Cobb Harbour and along the world-famous Jurassic coastline.

Come and relax on our sun-drenched terrace or enjoy the breath-taking sea views from inside the stylish Café interior with floor-to-ceiling windows and décor. Inside is tastefully decorated using as much upcycled materials as possible and the walls are adorned with artwork all by the same artist who just so happens to be the father of one of the owners.

LOCALLY SOURCED

We are a very local focused business from the produce that we use and the people we employ… local is something that we strive to use in all aspects of the business. With the ever-growing food scene that is happening in Lyme Regis we pride ourselves on our relaxed service and happy team which we hope transcends to our customers dining experience. Our menus are small to concentrate on quality, but we change them regularly to adapt to the seasonal changes of our fresh ingredients.

A RETURN IN ROMANTIC REGENCY

Lyme suffered a severe economic decline in the eighteenth century, but it was rescued from obscurity by its increasing popularity as a genteel watering place by the Georgians & Victorians. The courtesan Harriette Wilson described it as “a sort of Brighton in miniature, all bustle and confusion, assembly rooms, donkey riding, raffling…”. It was during this period that the cabinet maker’s daughter Mary Anning became celebrated for her discoveries of fossils in the cliffs and beaches of the Heritage or Jurassic Coast now a World Heritage site. The Cobb is featured in Jane Austen’s novel ‘Persuasion’ and also in the book ‘The French Lieutenants Woman’ this historic harbour wall will forever be a place for a romantic evening stroll.
